Self Portrait of the Artist
From the new 'Celebrities of Greek Mythology' Coconut Head Series
She was one of the great beauties of Ancient Greece. She was 'Cyclopsia', Cyclops' lesser well known sister (yes, the dude with one big eye in the center of his head). True, Cyclopsia also had just one eye, but she was beautiful. She was considered highly desirable among the gods on Mount Olympus (if you could get past the one-eye thing). She had beautiful curly blond hair that cascaded down her face, framed by her oh-so-fashionable Prada sunglass, big blue eye, full red lips, long eyelash (singular), a pert little nose and cute ears which were bedazzled with gold, dangling earrings ($19.99 on sale at Target Athens).
Zeus courted her, but couldn't get past the eye. She went out with Apollo and they broke up - nothing to do with the eye... he found out she was a Republican. She and Medusa were best friends, until both fell in love with Achilles who, as it turns out, was a real heel. Medusa wanted to turn her to stone, but that eye just freaked her out!
So Cyclopsia got a job at The Mount Olympus Greek Diner, and bided her time chit chatting with lesser gods and making tips. Then one day a pirate with an eye patch named 'One-Eyed Willie' stopped into the diner for a Gyro, and it was love at first sight. The rest, as they say, is history.
